Bienvenue

Welcome to Project Valjean, your home away from Digne for a deep dive into Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables. We are here to agonize over the story of Valjean and Javert, weep for the misery of Fantine, cheer for Marius and Cosette, and wish that we had the convictions of the student protestors.

Each chapter will be examined through a theme and a personal story about that motif.  You may find the Bible quoted or a consideration from Lin-Manuel Miranda. You might have strong feelings in agreement or otherwise.  We will cover it all, readers, including Waterloo.

Comments are welcome. Spam is not.

In terms of interactions with anyone here, I will quote a man smarter than myself:  Be excellent to each other.

Then the sheer hard times of the pandemic put a stop to it and while I really wanted to finish the project, I just couldn’t pull myself together to write for long stretches.  So today, this same friend texted me and said, “It’s 24/6/1.  Guess which shirt I wore today!”  I knew she meant the red 24601 shirt I’d gotten her at Utah Shakes. I took a picture of my Cosette t-shirt from when I att...
